General tips for using French learning resources

When using French learning resources, it's important to keep a few tips in mind to make the most of your learning.

Stay organised. Bookmarking your favourite websites can give you easy access to them, but what if you have hundreds of bookmarks? You can create a folder in yout main bookmarks bar, whether on Chrome, Safari or Firefox to better organise your preferred resources, and keep things very organised at the same time.

Likewise, your desk and physical organisation should be neatly organised to get you the most out of language learning. This will also prioritise work like assignments you may have for in-person French lessons whilst being easy to use, potentially saving hours and giving greater marks.

Increase your exposure. Regularly exposing yourself to a variety of French media and content types including websites, videos and books can quickly make you familiar with commonly used expressions, idioms, and even new content and vocabulary. Don't rely solely on browsing digital pages to attempt to master new (and old!) content.

I find that using physical dictionaries to define unknown words and to verify grammar with worksheets is somewhat more effective than having everything online. This sense of physicality, especially with creating your own flashcards using content adapted from a variety of sources like French websites can reinforce linguistic links.

Incorporate learning into your routine. Introduce reputable French websites and other resources into a schedule can work wonders with your memory. We regularly update the French Revision Portal with new, great websites and content so that you will never have to spend hours searching for something that isn't useful anyway. From listening to French news on a daily walk or commute to spending 5 minutes reading some books in the night, adding a bit of French into your schedule can add a load of benefits to your language learning journey. Consistency is key when it comes to language acquisition, and incorporating learning into your routine can help you stay committed and make progress over time.

Conclusion and notes

The French Revision Portal offers many advantages for French learners; there are numerous online resources available on it! As always, don't rely just on one site for all of your information, whilst I have tried to make the Portal as comprehensive as possible, it is always better and more rewarding to discover a variety of new content yourself. To make the most of your French learning experience, remember these tips and incorporate them into your routine for efficient and enjoyable learning.
